The Stampendous "Season of Wonder" Collection for Spellbinders

The Stampendous Season of Wonder Collection is small but stunning. You can see it by clicking HERE. The collection is 2 die sets and 2 stamp sets. I've made 2 cards so you can see what you can make with them.

My nativity scene card is A2 size (4.25" x 5.5"). As you can see it fills the entire card, the black cardstock is black sparkle, hard to photograph. I didn't include a stamped sentiment. I think for this it would be nicer to stamp the sentiment inside. The image is so beautiful, it would be a shame to cover it at all. The stamps in the collection are nice, there are some religious ones included.

The window is a piece of alcohol ink on Yupo that was in my stash. I have a lot of backgrounds that are ready to go, I don't even remember how long ago I made it but it was convenient to have on hand.

This card is using the "Peace Dove". There's a larger dove die that can be made into an ornament, in the set there is a die to cut a loop for a string, and a way to make the dove's wings dimensional. Both diecut sentiments Peace and To you and yours are included in this set. That makes an all in one dieset and a great value.

The background is Spellbinder's cardstock, such beautiful paper, heavyweight and I love the deep dark navy. I used the Argyle Plaid 3D embossing folder, misting the paper which helped give a deep embossing. I added white highlights to the leaves and ornaments, it seemed a bit plain without it. I also put glossy accents on the ornaments for a bit of shine and dimension

These were very easy cards to make, you can make them as elaborate or simple as you like. Supplies are listed below, if you click my  links I receive a small commission for any purchases you make at no additional cost to you. It helps me provide content and I greatly appreciate it.

Spellbinders "Not Your Ordinary Card Collection" by Wendy Vecchi

A whimsical set from Wendy Vecchi, called "Not Your Ordinary Card Collection" for Spellbinders, you can see the entire collection HERE.  The star of the show is this cute pocket envelope die that can be used any time of year, birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, just change the decorations.

I envelope cuts in one piece with 2 tabs at the side and bottom to glue to form the envelope. You can use it alone or adhere it to a card. It's super easy to put together.

I used the Halloween add-on set to decorate the envelope. There's lots of dies in this set and it has some stamps for the sentiments. I like that they include the dies to cut out the sentiments. I have a problem getting stamped sentiments straight, so cutting them out and attaching them is great for me. I had a bunch of glitter cardstock scraps and felt all these diecuts just needed special paper. I added a piece of black thread to the spiders so I could attach one that would fall out of the envelope when the card was pulled out. Just a bit of BOO.

The card was cut from the Pinking Edge Birthday add-on set, the card fits perfectly into the envelope. I used the plaid stencil from the collection and some Distress Oxide inks in shades of purple.

That's it for today! Supplies are listed below with my clickable links. Using these links to make a purchase help me continue providing content.

Sizzix #Sizzix12daysofChristmas 49 and Market

Sizzix and 49th and Market have a lovely Christmas Collection I used to make this card. I stamped "Pencil Line Holly" with Versamark ink and used Brutus Monroe gold embossing powder for the outline. The stamps have layering stamps to easily color in the images and give it that handpainted look. I used Distress ink in  Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Pineneedles for the greens. I used Lumberjack Plaid for the red.

The stamps have coordinating dies to cut out the images. Behind the holly, I stamped images from "Bird Song", a vintage look set. I embossed a piece of cream cardstock with the "Pines" embossing folder. After it was run through my Big Shot, I ran the Versamark ink pad over the top and used more of the gold embossing powder on it.

Sometimes I make a card that has too much dimension on it to mail or I want to include it with a hostess gift. If you put it in an envelope it looks all bumpy and doesn't quite fit. I don't want to use tape to attach it to the gift, so I came up with this idea.

I used fun foam to pop up the panel on the cardfront, you can use foam tape too. I left a space in the middle without foam that my wide ribbon fits snuggly into (but not glued to anything). I then attached the panel to the cardfront (without getting any adhesive on the ribbon). I then knot the ribbon on the back of the gift.

The card will only move as much as the ribbon does, so you could tape the ribbon to the wrapping paper on the back of the package. I tied it pretty tight, so it didn't move much. Now the card is the gift decoration. To remove the card, untie the ribbon and pull it through. The card stays intact!

For my second package, I just diecut and decorated the Winter Wishes Thinlet set by Jen Long. This isn't a card, I just made it to sit on my gift. You could easily make this a shaped card to attach to the gift too.

Spellbinders "Cymbidium Orchid"

I watched Susan Tierney-Cockburn's YouTube Video for this Cymbidium Orchid. I enjoy watching her videos on how to put her flower dies together. Not only do you get step by step instructions, you get a lot of information on the flowers. This orchid is part of her "Winter's Grace Garden" Colleciton.

I cut the petals from regular cardstock and colored them using Copics (R20, RV81, RV21). For the leaves and stems, I used (YG11, G24 and YG17.Mine didn't come out as beautiful as hers did but I really enjoy her diesets. I love making dimensional cards. I also like the way they look on boxes, a nice replacement for a bow!

The background is one from my stash, I dipped and splattered Distress Paints. I wish I could tell you more about it but I made it last year. I thought it was too muddy looking but looked great with these pinky peach flowers.

That's it for today, I wish I had more info to share. Go watch Susan Tierney-Cockburn's video on YouTube for more inspiration!

Spellbinders Beveled Happy Birthday

When I saw Spellbinders "Beveled Sentiments" Collection, I wasn't really sure I could do anything interesting with this folder. Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous but I could only envision cream cardstock for an elegant card. I chose the "Beveled Happy Birthday" but there's also "A Gift for You", "Thanks", and "Hello". See them all HERE.

I think this is especially good because it is gender neutral and simple to make a standout card! I knew I didn't want to use just cream cardstock, although that would be so elegant. I went to my box of specialty papers, knowing I'd find something in there. It's a box of Your Paper Insider papers, this one is called "Silver Holographic Rainbow". Here's another photo, you can see how different it looks from this angle.

I adhered it to a black card, that's it, simple.

Embossed Acetate and Alcohol Ink!

If you know me, you know I love a 3D embossing folder. It's so amazing the dimension and detail it makes on paper. I tried embossing acetate and was shocked it worked so well.

But how do you color acetate? Copic markeres look too streaky on the acetate unless you back it with a dark color to hide the streaks. I thought of applying alcohol ink to the back of the acetate. My idea was to randomly put some alcohol inks on the backside of the acetate, then use acrylic paint to fill in any missed areas.

I used a lot of colors of alcohol ink on this card. Please know you don't need all the colors I used. Just use a few and it turns out just as good. Also keep in mind you can use other colors, whatever you want.

I filmed while I was making, so here's the YouTube video tutorial:

Below are clickable links to the stores that carry the supplies I used. Thanks for using my links, it allows me to continue providing content, I purchased all the alcohol ink and acetate I used.
