I really like making dimensional flowers like this Echincea by Susan Tierney Cockburn for Spellbinders. People are so impressed that it's made out of paper by me! It is hard to mail it, unless you're willing to ship it in a box. So I usually hand them to people. It's also good to use on a gift box. How to attach a card to a gift box without just taping it (and ruining the card) right onto the gift? It looks kinda childish. So I came up with a way to pop up the panel with fun foam and making a channel for the ribbon to slide through and taping the ribbon to the back of the box like you do when wrapping a gift. Here is a quick video on how I did this.
I first made a gift topper and attached it to the gift. The ribbon allows it to be reused. I decided to then attach it to a card. You can still run the ribbon and attach the card in the same way!
I used fun foam which is available in the kid's section of most craft stores. I buy sheets for under $2 a sheet and cut pieces to pop up my diecuts. Foam tape can also be used but I like how quickly I can diecut a shape, trim a bit off and adhere it to the diecut.
I cut a strip off in the center of the oval fun foam, large enough for the ribbon to feed through but don't leave too much space or the topper won't stay in place very well.
You can also mount this on a card and feed the ribbon through the same way, tie or tape the ribbon to the back of the package. This can easily be removed by the recipient and they can use it over, or use it as a tag or mount it on a card.
