Welcome Little One!

Simon Says Stamp has a new releasse called, Moments in Time. I received the "Welcome Little One" stamp set.

I stamped the little babies in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the images in with Copic markers. I diecut the images out with a square frame die (Sizzix discontinued). I cut the frame itself 3x and the top layer in a color that would stand out on the patterned paper I used for the card fronts. This paper is so old, it's from MFT, I think it's about 10 years old. LOL but I love the prints, perfect for baby cards. The sentiments are stamped with the same black ink, then I used the banner die to cut out the sentiment. I have a ton of these sentiment dies, they are all from Spellbinders.

That's it for today. Click HERE or on the image below to see the entire Moments in Time releasse.

Spellbinders Cosmos Dieset

The Spellbinders Cosmos flower dieset by Susan Tierney-Cockburn. I diecut white 85 lb cardstock and painted it with Altenew watercolors. I wanted an intense color. I shaped them as I always do, with the Sizzix Shaping Kit. I added a bit of pollen to the centers. The brand I use is no longer made, but I linked one that Susan Tierney-Cockburn uses for her flowers.

For the background, I used a piece of Thai Unryu paper (from Your Paper Insiders, box 11). I always have scraps of hot foil leftover that I end up throwing away. After looking at this BetterPress plate, I thought I could use them and add a few script accents. Here is how I did that:

Using Dimensional Flowers on Gift Wrapping

I really like making dimensional flowers like this Echincea by Susan Tierney Cockburn for Spellbinders. People are so impressed that it's made out of paper by me! It is hard to mail it, unless you're willing to ship it in a box. So I usually hand them to people. It's also good to use on a gift box. How to attach a card to a gift box without just taping it (and ruining the card) right onto the gift? It looks kinda childish. So I came up with a way to pop up the panel with fun foam and making a channel for the ribbon to slide through and taping the ribbon to the back of the box like you do when wrapping a gift. Here is a quick video on how I did this.

I first made a gift topper and attached it to the gift. The ribbon allows it to be reused. I decided to then attach it to a card. You can still run the ribbon and attach the card in the same way!

I used fun foam which is available in the kid's section of most craft stores. I buy sheets for under $2 a sheet and cut pieces to pop up my diecuts. Foam tape can also be used but I like how quickly I can diecut a shape, trim a bit off and adhere it to the diecut.

I cut a strip off in the center of the oval fun foam, large enough for the ribbon to feed through but don't leave too much space or the topper won't stay in place very well.

You can also mount this on a card and feed the ribbon through the same way, tie or tape the ribbon to the back of the package. This can easily be removed by the recipient and they can use it over, or use it as a tag or mount it on a card.

Glimmer Hot Foil on Acetate with Spellbinders Wildflowers Collection

The Spellbinders Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton is another new favorite for me. You can see the entire collection HERE.

I love the Script Text BetterPress Plate, and as usual, rather than inking it up, I decided to Glimmer Hot Foil it. I recently saw some acetate sheets with gold foil printed on them and thought it would make a nice background.

I used some heat resistant acetate, which works great with the Glimmer machine, no melting. I have also used this acetate to heat emboss, and that also worked out well. The only thing I didn't have success with is to diecut it. It's very thick and only left an impression, not a cut. More experiments may be necessary.

Here is my YouTube video tutorial for this card:

I popped up the acetate panel with some fun foam, I buy the sheets at Michaels for under $2. You can find it in the kids craft section.
I put the oval fun foam under the acetate, and on the top of the acetate, I cut the same oval with vellum. I like the softer look it gives for the flower to sit on.

The Gladiolus is cut from yellow cardstock that I edged with Distress Oxide ink in Ripe Persimmon. It can easily be just cut from solid cardstock in any color, but I like the 2 tone colors.

I love the pretty gold bow. That was cut from metallic cardstock and the bow die from the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals. It's a great dieset.

That's it for today. I hope you watch my video. Listed below are the supplies I used with direct links. If you use my link to make a purchase, it lets these stores know you find my content useful. This allows me to continue providing content, Thank you so much:

Tim Holtz 3D Embossing Folders in A5 Size!

I recently received 2 of the latest Tim Holtz A5 sized 3D embossing folders from Scrapbookcom,Typewriter and Foundry. These larger sized embossing folders are previously made designs but in a new larger size. The old size was 4" x 6.5", which could be used on an A2 card. This new folder is 6" x 8.5", usable for a variety of cards and scrapbooks or journal pages.

My YouTube tutorial here:

I sprayed and dried a variety of Distress and Distress Oxide Sprays on the Mixed Media Heavystock Paper

I put the dry paper into the embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot machine. I then took a Ground Espresso mini Archival Ink pad and ran it over just the letters. I gold heat embossed the letters to make them stand out, then rubbed the Vintage Photo Archival ink pad over the other raised areas. I wanted to highlight these areas too but didn't want the embossing powder to stick to them so I did it after I heated the gold powder.

I diecut the largest ticket from the same Heavystock paper.
I ink blended the edge with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and stamped the numbers from the Field Notes stamp.

I added some black foam tape to the cut out letters, just to raise them up a bit from the ticket.

I tied a bow with some twine around the ticket. I used a piece of fun foam on the back of the ticket to give it dimension.

I diecut file folder from the Specimen dieset, and the "Archive" word. I then used some Distress Sprays in pink shades to color the folder (Kitsch Flamingo, Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry).

I diecut a scrap of metallic cardstock for the butterflies, cut the photo slide from black cardstock. I used a small photo and glued it into the frame.

I cut a piece of black cardstock slightly smaller than the 5x7 cream card. I used one of the Vault Edges dies to cut the right side. I had to place the edge 2x to reach the 7" length of the card.

I attached all the diecuts to the black panel.

For the pastel Bunny card, I pretty much did the same thing, except used softer colors on the background, Spun Sugar, Antique Linen, Crushed Olive, an Stormy Sky (all Distress Oxides). The difference is that I didn't highlight the letters with embossing powder. Since I was using the entire folder on my A7 sized card, I wanted it to be more subtle.

I used the next smaller sized ticket die for the bunny's blanket. Cut the bunny and flower from the Bunny & Chick set. The stalks are from the Wildflowers set. The book in his lap is from a discontinued set called Regions Beyond. I would just cut a book shape freehand if you really want a book. I used a piece of white fun foam under the ticket. You can get fun foam at Michaels or Hobby Lobby in sheets for about $1.

For my last card a slimline size, I cut some silver metallic cardstock, placed the Bold Text sentiment over it and diecut it BEFORE embossing it with the Foundry Embossing Folder. After embossing it, I rubbed some black acrylic paint over the top to highlight the texture, wiping it off with a paper towel. I diecut the pieces from the Vault Industrial set from some scrap pieces of paper. I diecut the sentiment 2 more times, once from a scrap of glitter cardstock and stacked the letters and placing them back into the negative space on the card. That's it!
