Spellbinders Cheeky Apple from the Summer Stitch & Create Collection by Nichol Spohr

 

If you follow Nichol Spohr, you know she likes to stitch projects. So her collection from Spellbinders is called Summer Stitch & Create. I diecut wool felt for the pieces. I tried using acrylic felt from Michaels and it didn't cut very well, it's best to use wool felt or you could use cardstock and stitch the pieces, that would be very cute for cards.

In this collection there's also a strawberry, a beehive, and a sunflower. They are all so cute but my favorite is the sunflower. You can use these on tags or cards or use it on a key chain for a handbag charm. I think it'd make a cute party favor on a mason jar or a book mark.

The pieces are pretty simple to stitch, all done by hand. Nichol has some tutorials on her YouTube channel to show how.

For the background I used a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock and Distress Sprays. I used Rusty Hinge, Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Gathered Twigs and some Antique Linen Oxide.

Spellbinders Pretty Birds

 

Spellbinders has a new collection called Cheerful Chirps, which includes these "Pretty Birds". The entire collection centers around birds, you can see it HERE.

The background is one I had in my stash. It's Distress Paints in Speckled Egg, Spun Sugar and Gathered Twigs on Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I used a craft mat and dipped and dragged it into the paint, then misted it with water.

The birds are cut from white cardstock and inked with Distress Oxide in Kitsch Flamingo and Broken China. The other diecut pieces are cut from scraps.

I didn't put a sentiment on it, I will later. I think it'd be a nice anniversary or hello card.

Deckside Dreams from the Spellbinders La Dolce Vita Collection

 

Isn't this cruise ship adorable? I've never been on a cruise but this is another fun image from the La Dolce Vita Collection. You can see the entire collection HERE.

I pulled out my favorite toner foil, "Magical Shattered Glass" it's hard to photograph but so cool looking, it really sparkles like shattered glass. This is the type of foil you need to use a Minc machine or laminator.

I inked up the panel with some blue Distress Oxide inks, then applied Transfer Gel with a palette knife. After it dried, I placed the foil over the top and ran it through my laminating machine.

Spellbinders Ciao Spaghetti!

Spellbindersjust released some new cardstock called, "Treasured Cardstock" it is available in this aquamarine, ruby, onyx, or antique white. The packs are one color of metallic cardstock, 3 each of glitter, matte, mirror and brushed. Adds a bit of sparkle to your projects.

The dieset is called Ciao Spaghetti. I really like this image, it looks like those graphic Italian food art prints. It's a simple dieset to construct, the noodles connect at the C and the O. The lips are 2 pieces, the open lips and another dieset in the shape of lips to cut the black cardstock behind the open lips.

Using Up the Backgrounds You Have-Then Remaking It

I had a background sitting on my desk from this card, I made  it 2x because I wanted to videotape how I made it.

I diecut some pieces from the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for June 2025. You can see the other card I made, much more whimsical, HERE.

Here is what it looked like:

But then I thought it needed some blue pastes, so I made a whole new background!

Maybe I didn't need to do that. LOL. But I did get to try some of the new Astro Paste, it has a little glitter in it. I apply a thin coat of this using a flat foam blending tool. (I used Slippery When Wet, Weeping Willow, Silver Lining, Shady Lunar Pastes, Beluga Solar Paste and Clear Skies Astro Paste.) 

Next, I ran a black Archival ink on my folder and ran the dried paper through my Big Shot. You do need Archival Cleaner or rubbing alcohol to get the ink off the folder, then rinse it with water.

I embossed the panel with the "Plaster" Embossing Folder, one of my favorites.

There is a sailboat in the Deluxe Caboodle but not available for individual purchase, so I used the Set Sail dieset for the boat and waves. It's a good set to have on hand, you can see the entire collection HERE. It's an older collection but always good!

Spellbinders Amalfi Breeze Dieset from the La Dolce Vita Collection

 

This is such a fun dieset! I also like it because it's a good one to use up those scraps of patterned paper. This is like a paper doll, you can dress her up in any swimsuit, solid or patterned. I have these scraps from a Rosie's Studio Bayfair paper pad, the sunny paper behind it is from Scrapbookcom's Market Bloom paper pad. 

This is a small dieset, which means a smaller price tag too! The rectangular blanket die isn't included, there's a die just for the fringe. But all I did was cut a rectangle the width of the fringe and then cut it the length I wanted it to be to fit properly on my card. Easy and it lowers the price of the dieset.

The woman is 2 pieces, the body and 1 leg, the leg behind her is a separate piece to give the diecut a more interesting look. The die for the drink is included and I cut it from a scrap leftover from the swimsuit paper to match. I cut her body from tan cardstock and used a small blending brush to ink the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The sentiment is from the collection, it comes in a BetterPress plate, all in one, ink and cut. Love being able to ink and cut all the sentiments from a set, much better than 1 at a time.

The clear gems are old from Studio Katia. They went out of business, unfortunately.
