Use Up That Patterned Paper with the Blackout Technique!

I still have some pads of patterned paper from my scrapbook days, which I no longer use. Some of it is so pretty, but I'm too busy having fun creating my own backgrounds to use this old paper.

I recently posted a video about using my unsuccessfully inked backgrounds, reverse embossing them and covering the raised side with black ink. If you want to see that blog post or YouTube video, go to 11/21/23.

I had a scrap piece of this paper, it has a mixed media look, a bit of script in on it, florals, and different colors. I wondered if I could get a similar look to the cards I made a few weeks ago, so tried it. The colors are much more muted so I used brown ink over the embossed panel and wow! A very vintage look with minimal effort! I decided to make a quick video showing this which I made into a "short" for YouTube. You can see that here. If you need the full instructions, you'll need to watch or read my blog from 11/21/23. Thanks so much.

The paper is no longer available, it's by K&Co and must be about 15 years old!
