Through the Rabbit Hole with Sizzix Tim Holtz Vault Dies

I diecut this rabbit from the Sizzix "Vault Hippity Hop" by Tim Holtz set. I used the same velvety paper from Your Paper Insider that I cut the bunny, on my post dated March 2.

I wasn't quite sure what to do with it, so I put it aside. It landed on this panel and the ideas flowed. The panel was stamped with Stacey Park's "Ecliptic" stamp for Sizzix. I had stamped it with Distress Picket Fence paint (and washed it off immediately!). The paint acts as a resist in the same way that embossing powder would. Just a different technique, it isn't as sharp as embossing powder is, a bit more uneven of an application. That was the look I was going for, mixed media. I then sprayed it with Distress Spray Stains in Peacock Feather, Gathered Twigs, Unchartered Mariner and Ground Espresso. I thought it was way too grungy for the stamp.

Somehow, it looked right together. I diecut Vault "Funky Floral Wreath 2x from brown inked paper and once from green. I offset them and glued them together. I had a "Tree Rings" embossed panel that I never used so I cut the center out to fit inside the wreath. I cut a bunch of "Wildflowers" from lots of inked scraps. I save the smallest of inked paper just for this kind of project. The I'm Late was cut from the alphabet that is included in the Hippity Hop set.

"I'm Late" is an Alice in Wonderland reference, the White Rabbit is late for a very important date and runs throught the rabbit hole. I thought the sentiment could be for a belated birthday card or maybe a way to tell someone you're pregnant. LOL. See the egg in the corner? That wasn't intentional but now is funny. The clock stamp I just put on there for the sentiment. It's from an old set that I bought at Michael's many years ago, also by Tim Holtz but no longer available.

The best advice I can give you is to ink up paper ready to go, save the scraps and all those pieces you deem not quite right. You never know.
