Dancin Fairy from the Storytelling by Spellbinders Collection

Hello! Today I'm using more diesets from the Storytelling Scrapbook Collection by Spellbinders, you can see the whole collection by clicking HERE. Even though it's a scrapbooking collection, I used the dies for a card. This would be a great dieset for a page on a Disney trip but look how sweet this image is for a little girl! Birthday or tooth fairy?

I started with a white card, I ink blended some Distress Oxide inks in shades of blue, then spattered the card with some silver metallic watercolors.

The best thing about these small dies is I always go to my scrap file first. I have hanging folders for a drawer, they plastic and each is in a different color. So the yellow folder has yellow scraps, blue has blue scraps, etc. I have one folder that holds black scraps and all the metallic paper scraps. I find this helps me use my scraps up, less waste.

The metallic paper scrap I used, I'm pretty sure, is from Your Paper Insider.  You can click HERE to check out what they have. The pink glitter paper is from Spellbinders, linked below.

'Magic' is cut 2x from regular pink cardstock, then once from the glitter cardstock and glued together for extra dimension. I did partial diecutting using the 'Magic' shadow die on a diagonal.

"dreams come true" is from a BetterPress set called "Magic Sentiments", of course, I hot foiled it. I love the holographic foil, I'll link it below. The fairy was cut once from scraps, then popped up with pop dots.

Storytelling by Spellbinders Hero Card

I really like to donate cards, not only because I make so many, but also because I've read how much such a small gesture can mean to people. There are lots of groups that take cards, Cardz for Kidz is one, they send cards to many groups, not just children. You write a quick note and sign your name/city.  Here's the link: https://www.cardzforkidz.org/

Sometimes I'm at a loss for what to write or don't have much time, so I send a package of cards (with blank insides) to Cards for Kindness read more at https://www.creativekindness.org/

If you want to send a card to an individual, there are lots of Facebook groups, I belong to Because Kindness and the Angel Card Project. I send a lot to individuals, sometimes there are elderly veterans who are asking for cards. I've always wanted something special for them, although just a thank you is always welcome.

For my card today, I used Distress Watercolor Cardstock, diecut it with a rectangle die and sprayed it with Distress Spray Stains, propping the paper in a box horizontally and letting the spray move down the paper. You can use a piece of scrap paper or paper towel to mask off 1/2 the paper at a time to avoid making too much purple. I let it dry and then spritzed the paper and blotted it off with a paper towel to leave splatters.

The dies are from the "Storytelling by Spellbinders" Collection, great for scrapbooking but I love the dies for cards. You can see the entire collection HERE.

I cut "Hero" from white cardstock and used vellum for the shadow. I also used Wink of Stella on the white cardstock for a little shine.

The boots are cut 2x to make a pair from scrap cardstock. The dog tags are from the "Badges of Honor" dieset. Supplies are linked below. Using my links help support me at no additional cost to you. I appreiate it!

Spellbinders Storytelling Scrapbook Collection

Spellbinder's came out with a new collection called, Storytelling Scrapbook. See the whole collection HERE. There's lots of great sentiments (although I used one from a previous release) and Title sentiments.

For the background, I used a piece of turquoise paper cut to
4.5" x 6.5". I used some Distress Oxide ink in Unchartered Mariner and Villianous Potion to ink the edges. I really like the effect it leaves, it makes the paper look like it's glowing in the center.

Everything elsse is cut from scraps. I keep all my scraps in color coded file folders, so I can easily go through them.

I gold Glimmer foiled the sentiment, "Here's to beginnings and happy ever afters". Although this card can go to a little girl, it can also be used for a wedding or new baby. Of course, everything can be used for great scrapbook pages!

Listed below are the clickable links to the products I used. I receive a small commission for any purchases made at NO additional cost to you. Thank you for choosing to use my link.

Dancin' Christmas Friends!

Are you familiar with Spellbinders Dancin dies? The leg dies have a circle cut out (at the waist) that acts as a pendulum and lets the legs swing back and forth. I used 2 foam dots stacked to hang the legs on and attach to the back of their shirts. Before removing the release paper, use your anti-static bag to powder/remove some of the stick on the sides of the foam dots. After that, remove the release paper to attach the foam dots to the card and the back of the character's shirt. The legs will move freely.

The "Dancin Nutcracker Fitz" also comes with a drum dieset and a staff. I didn't use either of these but they are both good looking. This nutcracker is really a beautiful piece. Look at all the details! I have to say that there are a lot of pieces to this one but I think it's worth it.

The background is metallic silver paper (from Michaels) that I embossed with a BetterPress press plate. That took a bit of doing, it's not really made for that and had to use a bunch of shims and an embossing pad (DON'T use with you BetterPress system!) I used it with the regular diecutting platform.

The "Dancin Gnome" was pretty easy to put together. I used regular cardstock and some pretty blue glitter cardstock scraps I had. The background is made from an inked embossing folder which pushed the silver metallic ink into the recessed areas.

The "Dancin Moose" was the only one I just adhered to the card, I didn't make the swinging legs on this one. I had already made the background, navy cardstock with a 3D embossing folder. I ran a silver embossing pad over the raised areas. I liked how it looked but then realized that the raised areas didn't allow the legs to swing freely and it was hard to adhere the foam pop dots to the bumpy background. The point is, you don't always have to make the legs swing!

SUPPLIES are listed below with direct links to the stores. If you use my link, you let the stores know you find my content useful and allow me to continue providing card ideas. Thank you!

Spellbinders "Birch Trees" Registration Press Plates and Dies

The Spellbinders "Birch Trees" Registration Press Plates and Dies create the scene I made. What are Registration Plates? In letterpressing, they allow you to print in multiple colors. In this set, there are 4 different trees. I used each tree 2x, to make a fuller scene. In my case, I hot foiled the press plates but they were meant to use with the BetterPress System. Each tree could have been inked and pressed in different colors. I'll do that another time.

To hot foil this scene, I laid out the trees and put them onto my Glimmer hot foil system. Isn't this foil gorgeous? It's called, Silver Holographic Facets. Using the left over foil, I laid it on my desk and carefully placed the trees on the foil and using some mint tape (you could use Saran Wrap Press and Seal), I picked up the trees and placed it on my Glimmer System and reran it. Some of the trees didn't hot foil 100% but I thought it was ok. If you don't like that you could use a new piece of foil.

I diecut the deer and the birds from scrap cardstock. The spots on the deer's back cut out. There's a small die included to diecut a piece of white paper to put behind the deer and make white spots. I used some Gathered Twigs Distress ink around the edge of the deer. The birds are cut 2x for dimension.

I decided I didn't like the stark white background so I used Distress Oxide to ink blend and add color on the panel. I used a towel to wipe off any ink sitting on the foiled trees. I then adhered the diecuts to the scene.

The sentiment "celebrate the season" is from the "Christmas Sentiments" Press Plate and Die Set. I used Silver Holograhic Speckle hot foil.

Home Sweet Home

The summer sped by, I saw kids waiting for the bus the other day. Last month I started my Christmas cards, this week Halloween cards, might as well do some fall colors.

This cute little house is called "Home Sweet Home", part of the Spellbinders Storytelling Collection. Although the diecut looks good on cards, it can also work for scrapbooking.

The sentiment is also from the same collection, everything will be linked below.

The "Autumn Serenade" 3D embossing folder and the leaves and mushrooms are from last year. I had a green inked panel, I embossed the backside of the paper so that the leaves are recessed. I then ran a Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink pad over the paper. I clear heat embossed the wet ink.

I went through my scraps and cut out the "Autumn Wonder" dies. Everything is so much easier when you have some paper inked and ready to be used.

"All Things Grow With Love" is the sentiment. I think this would be a nice housewarming card.
