Hello! Today I'm sharing the January 2025 Spellbinders Large Die of the Month, "Botanical Atrium". Isn't gorgeous??
Although it is a Club Kit, you can join the club for just this month and quit at any time, or wait until February 10 and buy it at a slightly higher price, if it's still available. There are many perks to joining the club, you can read about them HERE.
I often get questions about how I make my backgrounds, so I thought I'd do a quick tutorial for this card. I used a similar background a few months ago for a Sizzix sample, I show it in the video below:
This is a simple technique, you really only need to know a few tips to do it. As I went along and added different shades of green, I remembered to dry the layers, otherwise you are just mixing the paint together.
I wanted the center of the panel to be darker, I added dark blue paint and then added green to it, giving me a deep dark green. I added some gold spatters to highlight the gold atrium.
I think a background like this adds visual interest to a card. Test it out, take a solid piece of cardstock, put some diecuts on it, then move the diecuts to a painted or inked background and you'll probably prefer the painted one. Use colors that compliment the diecut colors, remember, it's a background, the diecuts should be the star.
I used vellum for the solid piece behind the diecuts. I wanted to be able to see a hint of the greens behind it. The vellum looked a bit stark, so I took some green Distress Oxide inks and blended it on the back of the vellum so it wouldn't appear white. To hide the adhesive foam behind the vellum, I placed it behind the diecuts.
The sentiment is from the BetterPress Club of the Month, I used some gold Glimmer foil on dark green cardstock.
Here are the supplies I used for my card. I have direct links to the products. If you use my link to make a purchase, I receive a small commission at no additional charge to you. Please note, I am not informed with who uses my links. So if you do use my link, let me know, I'd love to send you a card!
(FYI some of the stores use Shopify. If you've used Shopify in the past, on the order page it will come up and ask you to use their link to fill in your address and track your package. If you use it, they receive the commission instead of me.) Thank you for using my link, it allows me to continue to provide content and lets the stores know you find my content useful.

Happy New Year! Today I'm sharing the Spellbinders January 2025 Stitching Die of the Month, "Stitched Ladybug". This is a packed club kit this month. It includes the ladybug, the oval frame, flower, leaf and sentiment dies. I stitched the ladybug but didn't stitch the oval. It's so great that you can choose to stitch or not stitch the pieces, it makes the set much more versatile.
I wanted to include more leaves so I took them from the January Large Die of the Month, Botanical Atrium. The background is made using the December 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, "Tiny Heart Scallop", which is now available for individual purchase (you don't have to join the club).
Two ladybugs would have been cute for Valentine's Day but I decided to take some time off and ran out of time. So know that would be a cute idea, maybe with the sentiment "Love Bugs".
Learn more about the Spellbinders Clubs HERE. Remember you can join and cancel after your kit ships if you only want one. Personally, whichever you choose is a great deal and there are so many perks to being a club member.
Supplies are listed below with my affiliate links. If you use my link to make a purchase (and don't used Shopify) I receive a small commission which will allow me to continue sharing content, thank you! If you use Shopify, they receive the commission.
