I'm using the Shoot for the Moon stamp set, which includes these cute little animals in outer space. I decided to make a spinner card because who doesn't love a bit of interaction?
I used 2 circle dies on a piece of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock. I wanted to use paper that was sturdy enough for the Distress Sprays and water plus sturdy enough for the spinner (I used 2 pennies and a few pop dots).
I cut my paper into a 5.5" square and lined up 2 circle dies like when making a frame. The space/track between the circles has to be large enough for the pop dots to freely spin yet small enough to keep the penny spinners in place.
Once you run the 2 dies through the diecutting machine, you end up with a large circle cut out of the center of the paper, a circle frame and a smaller circle. The frame isn't needed. The small circle is the "moon" in the center of the card. I sprayed that with Distress Mica Spray in Flickering Candle and regular Distress Spray in Lemonade Stand. The 2 mix together with a few mists of water for a hazy effect. After it was completly dry, I used Black Soot Archival ink to stamp the "You're the Best in the Universe" sentiment.
I sprayed the square piece with Distress Spray Stain in Unchartered Mariner, Faded Jeans and Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Spray, use the Distress Oxide sparingly otherwise the entire thing has a cloudy look to it. After it was dry I used Distress Spray Stain in Brushed Pewter. I just took out the nozzle a splattered "stars" on the paper. I liked the assortment of dots it left.I used fun foam to pop up the panel on a black card. I used fun foam to pop up the moon.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut the rocketship (there are matching dies but I don't have them).
I took a penny and stacked 2 pop dots on top of eachother. The pop dots need to sit higher than the panel and moon so the ship can spin freely. Depending on the height of your pop dots, you may only need 1 dot . I attached the 2nd penny to the pop dots and slid the bottom penny under the moon and panel. I then attached the spaceship to the top penny using another pop dot. My pop dots are a bit thin. Once you do that, the spinner should move freely.
Since I used a black card, I attached a white 5.25" square inside the card. I stamped the moon and the sentiment, "Shoot for the Moon". I then stamped the bunny astronaut and the stars around the sentiment. All of these stamps are included in the set. I quickly colored it in and my card is complete.
This card make a sweet encouragement card for the start of the school year, or just when things feel like they are spinning out of control:)
