Spellbinders Shaped Festive Santa Card

Today I using the Festive Felt Collection by Lolli & Grace WITHOUT felt! Below is the ornament I made using felt and beads, you can see that post by clicking HERE.

Although it looks beautiful made from felt, I'm foremost a card maker. There aren't any stitching holes on the dies, the felt pieces are glued together. The stitching is on top of the felt, with thread and beads.

There is an outline die for the ornament, you can see the white felt outline around the Santa. I took that die and made a shaped card from it.

After I cut it, I attached it to the Santa.

The outline die is over 6 inches long, so to cut the shape from a folded card with the fold on the left, you need a diecutting machine that can accomodate the die fed into the machine horizontally. You could cut the shape with a fold at the top but I thought that would be too flimsy. You cut the shape almost to the edge but stopping before you get to the fold. This is partial diecutting.

You don't have to make a shaped card, you could put this paper Santa on a 5x7 inch card easily!

I used some patterned paper for his clothes, a lovely floral from one of my favorite paper packs from Scrapbookcom. The beard is cut from a textured fun foam sheet I've had for several years. I think its supposed to look like snow. I think it's still available at Michaels crafts. I used blue gems for the eyes and pearl stickers for everything else.

I think a shaped card is so cute, just a little something different.
