Spellbinders Silhouette Butterflies 2 Layer Inking and Foiling!

The Spellbinders Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton was my favorite from May. I have 3 other blog posts using these products. You can see the entire Wildflowers Collection HERE.

For my first card, I used this gorgeous paper from Your Paper Insider's Box 6. Unfortunately, this box is sold out. I can't say enough about this paper subscription service. It comes out 4x a year, currently the subscription price is $29.95 (shipping is included in this price!). It's really great to have a box of assorted specialty paper on hand. I know I don't have stores around me with so many unique papers and even if I did, I doubt I'd pick an assortment. You can find out more about Your Paper Insider HERE.

The butterfly is a BetterPress plate that I inked up with Altenew Ink. I added the pretty floral diecut from the same collection. The sentiment is also from the collection, I used scraps of the background paper to stamp on and for the sentiment shadow. I thought it looked nice to match. I added a few Pinkfresh Metallic Pearls.

I finally figured out how to use my Glimmer hot foil machine with a 2 piece BetterPress plate. It's almost impossible to line up the outline plate with the foiled solid butterfly and I didn't want to try using the registration template included in the set, it's made of plastic and was worried it would melt. So I made my own template using the dies to cut out the butterflies on regular cardstock. Video below:

I used holographic Glimmer hot foil for the body and black hot foil for the outline. The sentiment set is also from this collection. The background is Speckled Egg Distress Paint on a gel plate. It made this splotchy look and I went with it.

For my last card, I used rainbow Glimmer foil for the body and black hot foil for the outline. The embossed panel is made with the Spellbinders Petunia 3D embossing folder. The image normally is down the center of the paper but I moved the image to the left to leave more blank space on the right for my butterflies. I used Sizzix Luster Wax ove the top of the embossed area.

Spellbinders June 2025 Club Kits! (Updated)

June 2025 Spellbinders Club Kits are the cutest so far this year! It's a nautical theme and perfect for those much in demand masculine card ideas!

I receive the Large Die, Stitching Die, 3D Embossing Folder and the BetterPress Kits of the Month. I wish I got all of them because they are all great.

For my first card, I used the lighthouse from the Large Die kit. There's so much in this kit, you can create an entire seaside village. Here's a photo from the Spellbinders site:

Don't forget you can buy the Club kit at the discounted price and then quit anytime! Or you can wait until the following month to buy it (If available) at a slightly higher price. Honestly, I have joined some clubs just for 1 month to get what I wanted and canceled it before the following month, no problem.

I used the BetterPress plate for the background and Glimmer hot foiled it with white hot foil. Love it.

For the 2nd card, I used the 3D embossing folder with vellum. I just wanted a subtle background but not boring! I also used the Stitching Die of the Month. I did stitch the Ship's Wheel by inserting the stitching pieces but you can leave them out to get a solid wheel. I think this is brilliant, the ability to put in or take out the stitching die. The seagull is also part of this set, he's so cute in his shirt and cap. This set is also a big one, here's the photo from the Spellbinders store:

Spellbinders Butterfly Silhouettes Press Plates

I made an acetate background for another card (see video below) and it was so cool I decided to tape how I made it, so I had this extra background. I also reverse foiled the leftover negative foil on black and diecut it for the center image. All of this is from the Spellbinders Wildflower Collection by Lisa Horton.

The butterflies are BetterPress plates, there is one plate to ink the body, another to ink the outline. I decided to use Glimmer hot foil on both, There is a acetate outline included with the set so you can put it down on your BetterPress and be sure it's properly aligned because you have to ink each individually. Well, I decided to make it more difficult and hot foil each individually and was afraid to put the acetate outline on my Glimmer for fear of melting it. I wish I could remember how I lined them up! I didn't tape it because I thought it was going to be a disaster. I do remember I used the rainbow foil first. Then maybe I diecut the butterfly shapes?? I know something had to do with using a big piece of mint tape and making a hinge. I'm sorry... I'll try to repeat this.

I do know that you can easily ink up a piece of cardstock bigger than the butterfly, then Glimmer hot foil it and easily get this look. I'm going to video tape this soon!

For the sentiment, I used some of the leftover rainbow foil, just love the look. The sentiment is included in the butterfly set.

Spellbinders Kokeshi Dolls and Cherry Blossoms BetterPress

Spring in Kyoto from Spellbinders includes these beautiful BetterPress plates. I used the Cherry Blossoms plates with gold Glimmer hot foil, then colored it in with Copic markers. For the Kokeshi Doll press plate, I used Black BetterPress ink and then colored the image in with Copics. I used a gold metallic pen to color in the flowers on the kimono. There is a set of Kokeshi Dolls that are diecuts and look similar. See the entire collection HERE.

The Floral Fans 3D embossing folder was inked with Prize Ribbon and Broken China Ditress Oxide inks, then run through the Big Shot on light blue cardstock. I've used this folder before and it looks so  different HERE.

The sentiment is diecut 3x and stacked.
