When I looked at this gorgeous paper from Paper Rose Studio’s Urban Garden Paper pack, I noticed how smooth and glossy the paper was. Remembering that the smoother the paper is, the easier it is to adhere hot foil. (Glossy cardstock and heat resistant acetate work great).
I picked a paper that looked like it was hand inked, this burgundy colored one, and using my Glimmer Hot Foil System, I tried it. It was GREAT.
So if you have some glossy printed cardstock and a Glimmer Hot Foil System, try it! Or ou can get this gorgeous pack below, I listed everything I used. Did you know that the Spellbinders store carries additional lines than just their own brand? Yep, they have Ranger products (Simon Hurley Pastes, Distress Inks, etc). Now they are carrying the beautiful paper line, Paper Rose Studio!
I used the Rainbow Twirl paper pack. It comes in 6"x6" packs or 12"x12" packs. Most people use the 12x12 size for scrapbooking but I like to use it for cards. I can get 6 cards from one piece of paper by cutting the paper into 4" x 5.25" pieces of paper. (Cut the paper at 4" intervals. then cut each strip at 5.25"). I then mat it with an A2 size mat (4.25"x5.5") and end up with a pretty border to mount on a card.
Cardmakers tend to go for the smaller 6x6 pads. You can make a square card from a sheet or cut it down to A2 size, either way you only get 1 card per sheet.
I used some diecuts I already had in my stash from some Spellbinders sets. I'll link everything below in my supplies. I really appreciate the people who have used my affiliate links, it helps me continue sharing content.
The Simon Hurley Springtime Sampler Collection is 2 BetterPress sets with matching dies and the Woven embossing folder. I used the Bunnies 2 days ago. I have a hard time using florals without something that grounds or frames them. The Windows with a View dieset is the perfect frame.
Most of the windows set focuses on the the scene outside, I decided to use the window from the outside. I placed the lovely Magnolias in the widow box. But then what would the view be? I decided on a shaker card. I popped the whole front and placed the sequins inside.
This is a BetterPress set, but I Glimmer, hot foiled it and colored in the alcohol ink markers. The Woven embossing folder looks like a basket but it can also look like bricks, so that is what I used it as.

The Spellbinders Delphinium from the "Through the Arbor Garden" collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn is a beautiful set, you create can create a showstopper of a card. Yes, it took time but I listened to an Audible book and got lost in the making.
You can check out how to put together these florals by looking at the Spellbinders YouTube channel. I actually had to follow along. I used colored lightweight cardstock to put these together, but you can ink white paper if you would like. I only inked the edges of the leaves.

Today I'm sharing 2 Easter cards I made using the Spellbinders Spring Bunnies and Woven embossing folder by Simon Hurley.
The bunnies are a set of BetterPress plates and dies, so you can letter press the bunnies and diecut them out. Remember, you can also Glimmer Hot Foil these plates. An idea is to use black Glimmer hot foil to make these and that way you can avoid the possible smearing of the ink if y want to use Copic markers. I wanted the letter press look, it's so elegant on the BetterPress cardstock. I just avoided coloring over the markers.
I started with my background using the Woven embossing folder. Look at all that detail! I applied Simon Hurley's Lunar Paste in the new Breakup Blue color (gorgeous) with a foam tool onto Scrapbookcom's new Mixed Media paper.

Spellbinders Spring Bunnies Press Plate & Die Set by Simon Hurley
Each letter comes with a sentiment 'S' has "ending love" put it together with the S and you have Sending Love, not a sentiment for a break up, LOL. Or use the single letter for notecards using your first or last initial.
The '&' has "Happy Birthday" "Many More". This set is the only one that includes the dies to cut out the pieces. You can use it for a birthday card, or skip the birthday sentiments and you can put together 2 of the letters and make a wedding card, "S" & "J" can be for "Stacy & Joe" or use your own initials for a thank you note from you and your +1.
By now you have probably seen how you can use your BetterPress plates with your Glimmer hot foil machine and get a great hot foil look. (Remember, you CAN'T use your Glimmer plates with your BetterPress! It's a one way street!)
I hot foiled my birthday card, using Rainbow Glimmer Hot Foil. I wanted to diecut it and place it on a black embossed background.
I did receive my initials, S and B, plus W for With Sympathy. I'll post those soon on Instagram.

For this card, I received the '&' plates from Spellbinders. I paid for the BetterPress and Glimmer Systems, the rainbow foil, the embossing folder and all the cardstock I used. FYI, I only share what I genuinely like.
When I first saw the new Spellbinders Windows With a View by Tina Smith, I was pretty excited. I love a window on a card, so many possibilities! The window is a nice frame for whatever you create.
I started like I usually do with a large set, I make a sample to keep with the set. I made it all in white with the intention of making the real card with a colored cardstock scraps that I have saved. SO MANY SCRAPS.
Once I saw how pretty this looked in all white, that was it. I loved it. I had the background from a card I made for Christmas with Simon Hurley's Spellbinders embossing folder called "Geo Quilt" and Lunar Pastes. If you're interested in how I made it, you can watch my video from October 10, 2023, linked below:
There are a lot more dies in this set, take a look below in my supply list. In fact, the entire collection is really great, lots of options.

Slow down and enjoy the process. I could have made these carnations, attached them to a card and they would still look beautiful. But if you enjoy the process, you're willing to go that extra step. I added the Queen Anne's Lace floral because I thought it looked so pretty together. Time consuming, yes, but this is something I really enjoy.
I placed it all on the Cherry Wood paper from Your Paper Insider, Box 6. Isn't it the perfect backdrop for these flowers?
