If you know me, you know I love a good 3D embossing folder. I was amazed when I tried embossing acetate and how good the image came out. You just have to color it or you won't be able to see it.
This technique is great for holiday cards and Valentines but a pretty floral for anytime of year looks so special. This is definitely a card you won't see at the grocery store.
I received the Simon Says Stamp A2 (4.25" x 5.5") acetate cards, decided to use my 3D embossing folders on them. To make it super simple, I put a white card inside the acetate, that I ink blended with Distress Oxide inks. You can just put a solid piece of colored cardstock inside of it, or as I show in my video, a piece of special cardstock, like the Your Paper Insider rainbow metallic cardstock.
Note: the beautiful embossing folder is the August Embossing Folder of the Month for Spellbinders. This is only available at Spellbinders and is a Club. You can join the club anytime between Aug. 6-Aug 27 and get this discounted price for the folder, and free shipping for the Club items. You can join the club and then quit the club at anytime. I have joined the Large Die of the Month and quit in the past. But you also get a discount on other purchases at Spellbinders. The following month any available club items are sold individually without having to join the club but at a higher price and you pay for shipping. You can read more about it on the Spellbinders site HERE.
Here's my video:
You can also just do this on acetate that isn't a card, I've done that and then attached it to a regular card but you have to have an adhesive that will work with plastic and strategically place the glue where if won't show through the clear areas. I have used Distress Collage Medium under the painted areas and let it throroughly dry.
Also, you can color the card with alcohol inks, leaving a few areas blank and then using a sponge paintbrush to cover the entire card with gold acrylic paint, that's pretty cool looking but keep in mind not exact.
Remember, (the backside should have the main embossed part recessed while the card front should have the flowers and leaves popped up. The gold acrylic paint is put on the backside of the card, otherwise the paint may scrape off.
