Another beautiful dieset by Susan Tierney-Cockburn, the Bachelor Button. Traditionally, the Bachelor Button is a blue color but I didn't have a good blue color cardstock, so I took a bit of artistic license and made it purple.
Susan Tierney-Cockburn makes some of the most realistic looking flowers from paper and dies that you'll see. With that, they are more labor intensive than a basic dieset. It means to get an ideal looking flower you'll need some tools to shape the diecuts. I'd say a must is reverse tweezers, a stylus and some kind of pad to use with the stylus. I have the Sizzix shaping set which really gives me everything I need to shape the florals but Susan Tierney-Cockburn has her own set that looks pretty cool with more specialized tools.
I've used a lot of ST-C's dies and I will say this one takes time. Watch her video on the Spellbinders YouTube channel to learn how to put it together. You need to use a tweezer to shape the petals (3 diecuts for each flower) into tube-like petals, that took a bit of time and misting the paper to have it keep it's shape is important. The stamen has to be snipped, colored with a marker in the center to give it depth and then she dipped the tips into glue and then some black flower fluff. I didn't have the fluff but I did have some black fine glitter so I used that. You could always just color the tips black with a marker.
There's also another stamen piece for the very center which needs to be snipped and rolled into a tube with a tweezers and glued together. This also needs to be dipped in glue and glitter.
Turn on some music and get into the flower making zone. For me this is enjoyable.
The sentiment is from the same Through the Meadow Collection, it's a BetterPress plate. I used Villianous Potion Distress ink just because it's the only purple ink I have. It is a bit uneven in color, but Distress ink will do that. I like that effect for this card.
I made 3 and then placed it on some beautiful white paper from Your Paper Insider. This paper is almost like fabric, it's so special. It's hard to see the pattern unless you layer it onto something darker, so I used a green scrap of paper. The white paper is in Box 10 of Your Paper Insider's subscription box. What's not great about having a box of special papers delivered to your house 4x a year?
That's it for today, supplies are linked below. Thank you for using my links, I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using my link and it lets the stores know you find my content/ideas useful and allows me to continue.
