Diecutting a Stamped Image

I saw this idea on Clean and Simple Cardmaking, a FB group I follow. I must say their image had much more white space than mine, sticking to the CAS theme. My card would be denied for posting I'm pretty sure. 

That's ok because I like it. I used the "Rose Blossoms" stamp set from Scrapbookcom. I posted a picture below that shows the entire set. I used the cluster of flowers. If you wanted to go more CAS, you could choose a few or even a single image. If you do that you can see the diecuts easier! 

You need to stamp and color this image 3x to do this technique, although you could stamp it 2x and it would be a spotlight technique. I put the stamp on my Misti to get the exact placement on my A2 size card. I colored one bloom at a time with Copic markers, that way you don't have to go back and try to remember which color you used where. 

After coloring the image, I cut an oval in the center. I've been using Mint Tape from Scrapbookcom to carefully keep the dies in place, escpecially important if you want to line up a certain part of the image later. 

I then diecut a Pinkfresh "Dainty Blossom" from the 3rd panel placing it exactly where I wanted the diecut go. I wanted part of the stamped image and part of the white space. I did the same with the Scrapbookcom butterfly.

Before adhering them to the panel, I cut down the panel with the oval just a bit with a Pinkfresh "Stitched Rectangle", one of my favorite sets. I adhered fun foam to the back of the oval cut panel and lined it up over the first panel. 

I also used some Wink of Stella to highlight the diecut pieces a bit more. I also placed a few dots of Scrapbookcom Pops of Color in Frozen Flurry. It has a slight bit of mint green to it and glittery shine. My tiny dots look clear but I love that effect, like waterdrops.

Spellbinders Floral Friendship

 

I think this is the first time I enjoyed mass producing cards. I used the same elements but there was enough color variation they seemed unique.

This is all from Spellbinder's Floral Friendship release. It's one 6x6 inch paper pad, with 40 sheets, 10 designs, 3 of which are foiled. That's good for me because I don't have a foiling machine but love the foil accents. 

I cut all the mats from the new Color Essentials Cardstock (except for the purple card above, that was in my stash). This is the first time I've tried Spellbinders cardstock, the color is solid through and the paper is so thick I kept trying to seperate it! It's really luscious paper, I"ll have to get more of it.

I used the Spellbinders Fluted Classics Rectangles. There are 9 total dies in this set, 3 fluted and the other six cut the outer edge of the rectangle. They nest inside each other. 

For the mat I used one rectangle and one fluted edge, for the printed paper I used I size down rectangle.

I cut the centers out of the printed paper, it would have been easier to cut a solid piece of cardstock and glue it to the frame, oh well. The Dimensional Butterflies are stickers, printed acetate with a bit of gold on them. They look so good on any project and the wings fold flat for mailing.

I don't use ephemera much but how easy is it to have all the printed sentiments? So easy!

Tim Holtz/Sizzix Road Trip Wedding Card

When I saw this die, I knew I what I wanted to do with it. I have used the Christmastime couple for several wedding/engagement cards. Here they are Just Married, starting on their life journey

I made the background using Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigments in Blue and Green. This can be done with any water reactive inks or even watercolor. The key is to swipe the paper through the ink, dry it with a heat tool, dip the paper back into the ink, dry, repeat. I also used a paint brush to splatter drops of ink onto the paper. Just get drips and uneven application to get this kind of background. It's going to be a hot mess until it isn't anymore. 

The dies for the couple are facing the other way, so I just flipped them. The tuxedo is just cut and trimmed by hand, nothing fancy.

The bride's veil is a strip of tulle. I've had a spool of tulle from Michael's for several years, sometimes I tie it on shower gifts, I'm pretty sure my kids are going to inherit it someday. LOL. I took the strip of tulle and a small piece of tape to contain it behind the bride's head. This is a little bulky so I have to pop up the rest of the couple, the car and luggage with foam tape so it sits evenly on the card. 

The Wonderful Life sentiment is from the stamp set, Tiny Text. The cans and string I cut by hand. Bearly Arts glue holds it all down.

All the cardstock is scraps from my scrap folders, the metallic cardstock is from Michaels that I bought last year.

Spellbinders Hummingbird and Butterfly

When I saw this Hummingbird and Lily set on Scrapbook.com I knew I had to have it. I often order from Scrapbook.com because they have good prices and often have some nice free gifts with purchase (look under the coupon section on their site). Bibi Cameron designed this set for Spellbinders, the whole collection is gorgeous, I wish I had ordered more. Here is the link if you're interested: Bibi's Hummingbird Collection 

I cut the Lilies out and painted them with some Distress Inks, nothing fancy, I just wanted to give them a little texture. I drew a few lines with Copic markers. For the bird I decided to just use colored cardstock scraps. I have hanging folders in a drawer organized by color. I bough colored hanging folders at Office Max (or Office Depot?) and thats how I code my folders. 

I took white cardstock and used the Spellbinders 3D embossing folder for January 2023, which isn't available, but there's a similar one called Four Petal Floral, linked below. There's a 3D embossing folder club available at Spellbinders that I belong to because I often love their folders and they often sell out, you can quit at any time but it is open on the 6th of the month to join but only until it sells out.

I used fun foam and popped up the die cuts. That's it, pretty easy. You could skip painting the flowers and then it would be super easy, I made another card just using solid cardstock and it looks just as good.
