Spellbinders Chiming Christmas Cuckoo Cottage (add-on)

Here's my final card showcasing the Cuckoo Cottage dieset and add-ons. Today I'm sharing the Chiming Christmas set. You can see the entire Cuckoo Cottage Collection HERE. There's also a bundle with all 4 sets at a great price. I have it linked under my supplies, below.

I love the colors of this one, the dark pink and aqua blue give it a mod Christmas look. For the background I used the Starry Snowfall 3D embossing folder. I used blue cardstock, embossed it then ran a white pigment ink pad over it. My favorite one is Hero Arts.

I used some of the Antique Treasured Cardstock for the snowy areas. I popped up the clock with fun foam and added one of the sentiments from the collection. Luckily, you can BetterPress or Glimmer hot foil the sentiments in one go, the plate includes all the sentiments and there's a 1 piece die that cuts them all out. I don't like making the sentiments so this is ideal for me, I just put them in a small baggie and keep them with the dies.

Here's a look at all the cards I've made with the collection. I have blog posts for each of these cards.

Supplies are listed below with direct links to the stores that carry them. If you use my link to make a purchase, I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Thank you for using my links, it really helps and encourages me to continue providing creative content.

Spellbinders Gingerbread Train

I posted this slimline card on Instagram and people really love this image from the Spellbinders Candy Christmas Collection. It's fun and a bit elaborate, plus the embossing folder is great. As usual, I went to my scraps to get all the cardstock for this train, you can make it longer by adding more of those attached cars or just make the main train. The only specialty cardstock I used was the Antique White Glitter cardstock just for a bit of pretty frosting. This paper is from the Spellbinders Treasure Cardstock, the Antique Assorted Pack.

Nice and easy today.

Here are 2 more cards I made using the Candy Christmas Collection:

How to Layer Three Different Colors of Hot Foil Using the BetterPress Registration Plates!

Today I'm using Happiest Holidays BetterPress Registration Press Plates from the Spellbinders City Holiday Collection by Yana Smakula. You can see the entire collection HERE.

Using the BetterPress for Glimmer hot foiling is probably my favorite, the way the foil is pressed right into the cardstock is so beautiful.

Regular BetterPress plates are easy to use, put the plate face up on the Glimmer hot foil base, cut foil to size, place foil pretty side facing the plate, paper on top, run through the BigShot (or whatever machine you have). Done.

BetterPress Registration sets are different. They consist of more than 1 plate, so each can be inked up in a different color. There is a registration "map" that is made from acetate, you place this down on the BetterPress so you can place the proper plates down for each color. If you leave it and the cardstock in place, each will properly line up on your card front.

But I wanted to Glimmer hot foil each layer in a different color! I wouldn't put the acetate on my hot Glimmer, it could melt. It gets very hot. So, I tried lining each layer up. Too hard. I finally realized I could copy/Xerox the acetate map by placing a piece of white paper behind it and I had a paper "map". I cut it out and taped it to my Glimmer hot foil machine so it wouldn't move.

Then I created a "hinge" with another piece of tape and attached the cardstock I wanted to hot foil. Keep that in place for each layer. It's hard to explain, so here's a video!

The blue card below is in a blog post from the other day. It can be found HERE.

Spellbinders Harvest Time Dieset Add-On for the Cuckoo Cottage Dieset

Today I'm sharing the add-on set for the Cuckoo Cottage Dieset called, Harvest Time. You can see the pieces it includes in the Supply List below. The main part of the Cuckoo clock is from the Cuckoo Cottage dieset. You can buy the bundle which includes the Cuckoo clock, the add-on set I'm using today, the Halloween set and the Christmas set HERE.

For the leaves, I used some scraps of Distress inked cardstock. I always have some of this on hand. I think it elevates a card when some of the pieces are inked in some way. I like to dip my Distress Mixed Media cardstock, watercolor paper or Scrapbookcom Mixed Media paper into colors of ink, drying in between layers to get speckled paper. All the other diecuts are cut from scraps of cardstock, I used some metallic paper in copper and gold for the clock and chains.

The background is the Field Notes 3D embossing folder, I love the leaves. The paper is from Scrapbookcom, I really love this paper pad, each sheet has a different color on the back, so you get a 2-for-1!

Shown below are other cards I've made so far using the Cuckoo Cottage set and add-on, there's one more for Christmas coming soon! I linked the posts under each card if you want to see what I used.

You can see the Cuckoo Cottage dieset blog post HERE.

You can see the Halloween Cuckoo blog post HERE.

That's it for today, listed below are the supplies I used with clickable links. If you make a purchase using one of my links, I receive a small commission at no extra charge to you. If you do so, let me know if you would like the card that inspired you. I would be happy to mail that card to you if I still have it. Thank you!

Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Party!

I'm taking part in the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember2025 Party! You can see all the participants on the SSS Blog!

Here is a video tutorial or read the steps below:

To make my card, I stamped the image on 3 pieces of watercolor cardstock, you could just do 2 if you don't care that you can see a bit of the panel on the first layer with the adhered oval. I couldn't photograph the shine but it is heat embossed with gold embossing powder. That is optional.

I then colored the cutout oval layer with a combo of Copic markers, watercolor paint and colored pencil (the streaks on the flower). I used an oval to cut out the center. I used a stitched rectangle die for this layer for a nice edge.

I laid that colored oval over another one of the stamped panels. You can see a bit of that layer when you look at the card so I decided to just color about an inch around the oval, you don't have to do that but I didn't like seeing the uncolored panel at certain angles. After coloring the panel I adhered the oval to the panel.

I then took the layer with the oval cut out and popped it up with foam so it would float over the first layer with the adhered oval.

For the 3rd layer, I diecut the Celebrate die from the center and then colored it in. I diecut the Celebrate 3x from regular cardstock scraps to pop it up. I used Copic marker to edge the sides to match the colors.

I laid the Celebrate over the oval, lining up the lines. I then cut one more Celebrate diecut and cut off the C and the E at the end, glued it on so it wouldn't sink in the middle.

For a limited time, my link is for the T-Square Ruler! I use mine to line up my sentiments. It's free with a $30 purchase (one code per order). You can see it HERE.
