Spellbinders August Stitching Die of the Month

 The Spellbinders Autust Stitching Die of the Month is called, Hand Folded Stitch. To me, it looks like an origami boat. 

Joining a club is overwhelming to some, but I think it's a great opportunity. You can join a Spellbinders Club or Clubs you can join for the one and quit at anytime. Although you can buy it the following month as an individual purchase without joining the club, it is at a higher price and you don't receive any of the additional benefits of Club membership. For the background I used Distress Watercolor Cardstock and some Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigment and Chroma Mist on a craft mat. I put some of each on the mat and then dip and splatter misted watercolor paper.

The stitching die was simple to put together and includes the wave edger and the sentiment dies. It's a great value.

Spellbinders Spooktacular by Simon Hurley

 

Today I'm using the Spellbinders Spooktacular Collection by Simon Hurley. It's 2 diesets and 1 embossing folder. You can see the entire collection HERE.

I have a YouTube Video Tutorial below:

My first card is vellum over white cardstock and a small piece of vellum behind the white cardstock. I wanted the ghost to have a bit of sheerness and extra dimension.

The background is black cardstock embossed with the Damask embossing folder. I took a Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide ink pad and lightly rubbed it over the raised areas.

The sentiment Boo to You is included in the set. It's the words and shadow. I cut the shadow from vellum.

For the Bewitched cat card, the cat is pretty easy to put together. The only thing I added was a white dot on the eye with a white gel pen.

The background is black mixed media paper that I swirled Simon Hurly's Lunar Paste in Crown Me in a thin layer. After it dried I ran the paper through the same Damask embossing folder.

The Happy Halloween sentiment die and shadow die is included in this set.

The Gingerbread House from the Candy Christmas Collection by Stamperia

 

The Candy Christmas Collection by Stamperia is all sweet treats! They have scrapbook/journaling supplies to go with the dies, I don't have them but they are very cute! You can see the entire collection by clicking HERE.

Today I used the Gingerbread House, Sweet Borders and the sentiments from the Gingerbread Plane and Banners. I have all these linked below. I cut all the snowy/icing pieces from a scrap of glitter foam cardstock that I purchased from Michaels many years ago. I still have the same piece I've been using for puffy snow.

The arch die is cut from Spellbinders Treasured cardstock. It's an Antique White. Everything else is from my scrap drawer, as usual.

The background is Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigment in Green that I dragged a piece of watercolor paper through. I fashioned it after one of the cards below, you can see it in the 3rd row down, 1st on the left.

These are the Color Deck Expansion Pack, which give color palette suggestions. Aren't the pretty?

Spellbinders Halloween Tick Tock!

 

The Spellbinders Halloween Tick Tock dieset is an add on set for the Cuckoo Cottage. You can see the entire collection HERE.

Here's the card I made the other day using the basic Cuckoo Cottage dieset:

As you can see I completely changed the feel for the card by using the Halloween dies. There's also a set for Fall and Christmas. It just makes the set versatile.

There's more to the Halloween set than I used. I cut the cats, spiders and bats from Black glittered cardstock. Everything else is cut from scraps. My neverending files of scraps.

The embossing folder is one of my favorites from Spellbinders and Simon Hurley. It looks like plaster or frosting to me. Just the right amount of background interest.

The sentiment is BetterPress inked and included in the sentiment set. I inked up the entire plate and used the matching die to cut them out in one swoop. I love that!

Spellbinders City Holiday Collection by Yana Smakula

This card is so elegant to me. Yana Smakula designed this collection for Spellbinders. You can see the entire collection HERE. I don't have the BetterPress pieces, but they look gorgeous.

I used the City Holiday dieset. I watched Yana's YouTube video and she said this building was patterned after her apartiment building, the large window on the first floor is a shop. When I saw it, I though of those grand Boston buildings that are single family homes. So I made all the windows with the same drapes. The dieset contains different window treatments so you can  make each look different. I'm going to do that next! 

In Yana's style, I used a dark cardstock for my background. I also used the Spellbinders Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack to help me with a color palette. If you don't know about the Color Deck System, it's a boxed set of cards that give examples of colors that go together. You can attach cardstock you used to help you in the future with color palettes that work. In the photo below you can see the one I used. If you look below under supplies you can see the all the cards. I used the one that looks like a snowy village with different colored houses.

For the snow I used some Spellbinders Treasured cardstock for the snow, everything else is scraps from my stash.

I didn't receive the sentiments from this collection, so I used last year's and used white Glimmer hot foil. I was excited to see that I actually got it on straight! Use mint tape and create a hinge! Under supplies you can see both sets, old and new sentiments.

Yes, it took a bit of time to put this card together, but I love it. Now that I know how each piece works, I've got it down. I use a black Sharpie marker and write on the back of my dies, "Drapes" "Window Shade" etc. It makes it so much easier! Also FYI Spellbinders has a page that shows which dies go to which image on their page (Go to the product and you can see samples of cards, it's there. I saved it to my computer and then printed it out to keep with the dieset.  It looks like this:
