I jumped onto the postage stamp craze. I've wanted to buy some but whenever I went to order them, there were too many choices! Dies, stamps, stencils 7 different ways! I seriously couldn't figure out what I was ordering. So I jumped at this set, it includes the stamps AND the dies in one package! Here's photos of what's included:
It's called Special Delivery 49 & Market for Sizzix. It includes 27 stamps and 11 dies. You can check it out HERE.
Everything I used on this card is from the set, except of course, ink and paper. I used Distress Ink to stamp all the images. There are solid stamps to color the postage.
For the background panel, I used a piece of paper I had inked in Distress Oxide on my gel plate. I love the look, it's 3 of my favorite Distress Oxide colors, Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw and Salvaged Patina. I drag each of these colors onto the gel plate then use a brayer to lightly blend the colors before pressing my cardstock into it.
I used the postal mark stamps included in the set inked with Lost Shadow Distress ink. I think it made a nice background paper. I "cancelled" some of the postage stamps to add a bit of realism.
One tip when stamping and diecutting the postage stamps and the tiny images, diecut the paper first. It's easier to stamp the diecut than try to line the die onto the stamped image. This is how I did it, I took a piece of white cardstock, diecut all the pieces I wanted to use for my card. Then I put the diecut paper onto my Misti stamping platform. I pulled out each of the diecut shapes. I then placed the stamp into the negative space (cutout space). This will line up the stamp perfectly. I close the lid of the Misti so the stamp is picked up where it needs to go. Place the diecut piece back into it's space. Ink and stamp the stamp. Voila! Perfectly lined up image. I will try to video this and show it soon.
I cut a piece of white cardstock for the mat for the 4 postage stamps, popped it up on my panel, added a silver bow and a few gem stickers from my stash. Some of those are 20 years old, lol.
That's it for today.
