Recently, I was asked to join the Your Paper Insider Design Team. As part of my package, I received their Cold Press Watercolor Paper. I only use cold press watercolor paper because I like the texture. I think it provides the perfect look for my mixed media backgrounds. It comes in a pack of 50, 8.5"x11" paper, so you can cut it into fourths and have 200 (!) A2 size panels!!
For my background today I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen, Walnut Stain, Rusty Hinge, Frayed Burlap, Old Paper, Stormy Sky. I ink blended it on the paper and spattered some Distress Oxide Faded Jeans over the top for a bit of milky look, misted a bit of water over the panel and picked it up with a paper towel. Lastly I used white acrylic paint and spattered it over the entire panel after all the diecuts were adhered.
The dieset I used is the Sizzix Merry Moose by Tim Holtz. I don't know why it took me so long to order it, it's adorable. Look at his skinny legs and the great tree. I just cut a bit off the bottom to make it look different on the card. I had a small scrap of woodgrain paper left, I think it's also from Your Paper Insider, perhaps Box 8? See, that's the great thing about a box of assorted specialty paper, you always have something special to use.
Your Paper Insider also has a subscription service which sends a box of assorted specialty papers 4x a year, for $29.95 shipping is INCLUDED. Learn more HERE.
The leaves on the trees are also a scrap of inked cardstock, as is the moose itself. I ink up solid pieces of mixed media cardstock to have on hand. Believe me these 1 color papers are kinda ugly when you look at them but they are a must have for me. I just randomly grab Distress and Distress inks in one color, different shades of that color, here, greens and browns. For the moose I diecut the paper and then used some Mica Stain Spray to add a bit of shine.
The sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous, Tiny Text by Tim Holtz.
I took a small piece of scrap cardstock and ripped the edge for the snow at the bottom of the card. I used some Glossy Accents to adhere Distress Rock Candy glitter, just a bit for shine.
That's it! So fun. I've gotten a good amount of my arm back to normal so that's a plus. I never knew how important a shoulder is for everyday life, especially for a person who likes daily crafting.
