Spellbinders Through the Meadow Collection

Everytime I make a Susan Tierney-Cockburn floral, it becomes a great way for me to relax. I always watch her videos on how to put together the diecuts first, then put on some music and get lost in the making. Once I put together one, the rest are simple.

This one is called "Chinese Meadow Rue" from the Through the Meadow Collection. I diecut everything from Mixed Media paper and then colored with Copic markers. The stamen have yellow fluff adhered. I've had a jar of this for at least 15 years, from a class I took at Archivers. LOL.

The background is A2 sized, using the embossing folder from the collection, called "Wildly Beautiful". Can you see the same flower embossed? So pretty.

For the sentiment, I used the "Through the Meadow" BetterPress sentiment. I used Distress Ink in Villianous Potion, I wanted it to match the flowers. I didn't think it would work well but the ink came out great. Try whatever ink you have with the BetterPress plates. You don't need special ink.

That's it for today! Listed below are the supplies I used with direct store links. Using my link to make a purchase helps support me. Thank you!

Supplies:

The entire Through the Meadow Collection can be found at Spellbinders HERE or at Simon Says Stamp HERE. It will be available at Scrapbookcom but right now I saw that it is "coming soon" HERE.

Spellbinders February Large Die of the Month

The February Large Die of the Month is the "Dancin Happy Bunnies Everywhere" dieset. There are a ton of dies in this set, the bunny, clothes, eggs, flowers and more.

I diecut the pieces from scrap cardstock and did a bit of ink blending on the edges. I place the diecuts on this "My Heart Beats for You" BetterPress Plate which I gold Glimmer hotfoiled.

Simple today! Below are the supplies I used with clickable links. If you make a purchase using my link, I receive a small commission and it lets stores know you find my content useful. Thank you!

Spellbinders Justine's Farm Collection

I saw some prints at the store that were wildly colored animals that I was inspired by for my cards today. These animals are from "Justine's Farm Collection" for Spellbinders. Click HERE to see the entire collection.

I used black Glimmer Hot Foil on these BetterPress plates. I like using hot foil because it's easier to me, no clean up afterwards. I then colored the images in with Copic markers. I had a hard time with the pig and it didn't come out as colorful as I had wanted but it's fine.

I diecut a bunch of flowers and laid them around the sentiments. Come on, "Don't go BACON my heart" is the best sentiment ever!

I used Distress Oxide in Broken China and inked the edge of the card.

Spellbinders February 2025 Stitching Die of the Month

The “Stitched Scallop Card Front & Tag” is the Spellbinders February 2025 Stitching Die of the Month. It includes 5 dies: 3 with a scalloped edge and 2 rectangles. You can see in my photo that I used a scallop with a rectangle to create a frame. There is a larger scallop and rectangle that I didn’t use.

I cut 3 of the scalloped frames. Two of them I glued together before stitching, just to make it sturdy. After I stitched the frame, I glued another to the back which glues the threads and provides an even backing to glue to my card front.

I also used the 3D Embossing Folder of the month which has tiny bows on it. So cute! I love all the bright colors, so ready for Spring!

If you need any stitching tools or thread you can find them HERE.

Lunar Paste and Spellbinders "Plaster" embossing folder

The Spellbinders/Simon Hurley 3D embossing folder called, "Plaster" is such a dramatic look with so much dimension. In addition to plaster, I think it looks like frosting!

To highlight the texture I used Simon Hurley's Lunar Paste. I spread it on some black mixed media paper with a foam blender. I like using the flat foam blender because it puts a nice even coat onto the paper. I used some metallic colors, Refined Copper, Silver Lining, Slippery When Wet (gold), and Weeping Willow (dark brown). Originally, I used Shady but I thought it was too dark so I covered it with Silver Lining.

I ran a Black Archival Ink Pad over the Plaster embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot. The black doesn't completely cover the recessed areas but just leaves a little bit to accent it.

I didn't want to cover it but it didn't make much sense without an image, so I used the "Mylar Balloons from the same collection as the "Plaster" embossing folder.

I covered another piece of black cardstock with Lunar Paste in Silver Lining and a bit of Breakup Blue mixed in for highlight. I used a piece of silver glitter cardstock I had in my scrap pile to put behind the balloons for the highlight.

Here is another post using pretty much the same products in a different way, you can read my blog here:

That's it for today!

Mixed Media Valentine!

The Decorative Cover Plate by Scrapbookcom is a unique pattern. I really like adding some texture to a background and usually use an embossing folder but when I received this coverplate I thought it would make a great background for a simple image.

I took a piece of Scrapbookcom Mixed Media black cardstock and covered it with Solar Pastes in Cross My Heart, Beluga, and Royal Flush. I applied it with a craft tool and pulled horizontal lines across the paper. I let it dry and then diecut the panel with the coverplate. I layered it on top of 2 more of these diecuts using just regular black cardstock. I wanted some dimension here.

For the inked paper underneath, I used Ranger Alcohol Ink Cardstock. It's a glossy cardstock that takes the ink pretty well. I applied it in a way that I found out shouldn't be done after I did it.

I applied the Distress Oxide Ink onto a gel plate, dragging the ink pad onto the gel plate and then smoothing out the colors with a brayer. The next part I found out is a NO-NO. I pressed my glossy cardstock onto the gel plate.

Apparently it's one of the only papers that Gelli Arts (on their website) says not to use with the gel plate. I guess it can get stuck. Mine didn't but my plate is very old and doesn't have a ton of stick to it. So I would definitely be aware that this can happen. Really, you can use regular cardstock and it looks pretty much the same. I just happened to try this glossy cardstock and had this background in my stash and just used it.

I diecut the balloon from a scrap of pink cardstock and ink blended around the edges. I stamped the sentiment and hearts from the Sunny Lane stamp set. I popped it up with a piece of foam and tied a piece of twine to the balloon.
