The beautiful Serenade of Autumn Collection from Spellbinders, is such a good one. I can't stop using this Autumn Serenade 3D Embossing Folder.. This time, clean and simple. I used some 85 lb cream cardstock and for once remembered to mist my paper before embossing it. Yep, it does leave a better impression but it also warped the paper, I had to put it under a book. Not too heavy though, I didn't want to flatten the embossing.
The Sealed Sprigs dies are gorgeous. With long stems, they would look great with the wax seals Spellbinders has. I don't have any so I decided to just pair it with a long thin sentiment.
The sprigs look better with a little bit of Distress ink around the edges. Just a little touch, that to me, really adds a lot.
A pretty simple card for today, so the little touches matter. I did have to trim the stems off at the bottom because they were a bit too long on this A2 card. I popped only one of the pink flowers.
A added a small gold Glimmer sentiment, and put a bit of Scattered Straw Distress Oxide ink on it just to match.
I placed 7 of the sentiments I could imagine using on my Glimmer machine and foiled them on white cardstock with gold foil just to have on hand. I cut the one I needed for this card. Easier than foiling one at a time.

Simon Hurley added a few new colors of Lunar Paste recently! I ordered Weeping Willow (dark brown), Shady (dark grey) Cookie Dough (beige). The only new color I didn't order was Grrr (med brown). I did order both Refined Copper and Silver Lining for some pretty metallics.
I wanted my paper to stay in place without having to put my finger into the pastes, so I used the Scrapbookcom sticky mat. To keep my mat clean, I placed a Brutus Monroe Blending Buddy down. It's a piece of plastic with the center cut out. Normally you put the paper on the sticky mat and place the Blending Buddy over it, it will cover the edges of the paper so you can ink blend just the center.
Instead, I put the Blending Buddy on top of the sticky mat, covering most of the mat, leaving the center open to keep the paper in place. If any of the paste comes off the paper, it'll hit the Blending Buddy and not get all over my mat.
Using a palette knife, I placed the pastes on a piece of4" x 5.25" cardstock (110 lb). I then used a craft scraper to pull it across the paper. You want it to be covered but not thick.
I washed all my utensils and let the panel completely dry for several hours. I didn't want solar paste pressed into my 3D embossing folder.
After it was dry, I embossed it with the Simon Says Stamp "Wheat Stems" 3D embossing folder. I applied some Slippery When Wet Lunar Paste on the tops of the wheat. I also put some of this Lunar Paste on a scrap of black cardstock and diecut the word "thankful", stacking it 2x for dimension before gluing it in place.
I adhered the panel to an A2 black card.

Many people ask how to make a layered ink panel. The answer really is, lots of dipping, lots of water misting, lots of drying. I made a video that shows how many times I dip and dry a panel but you can stop dipping anytime you are happy with the results. After I dipped this panel, I decided to add Deco Foil in Magical Shattered Glass. It's such a beautiful Deco Foil, I've used it on many cards.
Here's a video that shows my process:
It's really important to keep drying in between layers or all the colors mix rather than layer.Tim Holtz has lots of videos where he shows how to layer ink. If you havent seen them, you should look.

A few weeks ago I made a card using a Spellbinders 3D embossing folder of the month, which is sold out. A few people were disappointed about that so I wanted to show how you could use another embossing folder with the same technique. Today I used the new Spellbinders Serenade of Autumn embossing folder.
Here is a YouTube tutorial:
The process is pretty easy, using Black 110 lb cardstock, (from Hobby Lobby) I applied a thin coat Solar Paste with a foam blending tool. I let the paper completely dry.
Using the Ranger Archival black ink pad, I applied it to raised areas of the embossing folder. I then placed the Solar Paste panel into the folder and ran it through my Big Shot. The Archival Ink is pushed into the recessed area of the folder but doesn't completely cover it. The ink gives added dimension.
For the sentiment, I used the Autumn Serenade Sentiments die. I applied some of the Solar Paste to a piece of black cardstock and diecut it.
The secondary sentiment is Spellbinders Mini Christmas Sentiments, I used gold foil on a small piece of the same black cardstock.
All the products used are listed in the description below the video on YouTubewith direct links to either Spellbinders or Scrapbookcom. Blogpost doesn't like me to link too much, so I do it there to avoid my blog being put into hold.

The new Spellbinders Serenade of Autumn Collection is gorgeous. I received the 3D embossing folder from the collection. I've wanted to try a technique on Instagram that I saw from @ritzyhag a variation of the Joseph's Coat technique. She put down many colors of Distress Oxide inks and then used an inked embossing folder over it, then colored in the background with a dark marker.
I changed it up a bit, I embossed my Distress Mixed Media Heavystock paper with the new Spellbinders Serenade of Autumn embossing folder after I ran a brown Distress Archival Ink pad over it. I then immediately poured clear embossing powder over the entire panel, heated it, then sprayed the panel with Distress Mica Stain Sprays in various Halloween and Holiday colors.
Unfortunately, the clear embossing powder didn't stick to all the areas I wanted it to, I wanted it to act as a resist to the Distress Mica Sprays. So I went over it with a brown marker. It made the leaves stand out and in the end was beautiful. I think if I had cleaned my folder (with rubbing alcohol) then ran an embossing ink pad over the folder and rerun it through the Big Shot, more embossing powder would have adhered to the panel and worked better as a resist. I've done this before, on a card made to look like a ceramic tile, I have it on my blog.
Here is my YouTube video tutorial if you're interested, I link all the products I used in the description on the video post. If you want to know all the colors I used on this card, I give them as I use them on the video.
I greatly appreciate you looking at this tutorial and/or the video. If you like the video please give it a thumbs up on YouTube, it really helps me.
I don't list all the products I used here on my blog because when I do, Blogger flags my video as Spam and deletes it until I request a judgement from them. I think it's to prevent Spammers from posting on their site. So again, if you want to know the products, they are listed and linked on the description box of the video. Thanks to those who use the links, it helps me greatly.

The Spellbinders All Occasion Bow from their Merry and Bright Collection is a large, it would fill an entire A2 card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") It would be great as a shaped card but I made mine sit on top of a notecard to look like a present. The florals and sentiment are from "Petite Blooms and Sentiments" from the same collection. They fit perfectly on the bow but could also stand on their own.
YouTube Video:
I used metallic cardstock and for the stripes on the bow I used Silver Linen Weave cardstock from Your Paper Insider's Box 5. The paper is so unique and adds an elegant touch to the bow.
I think this could be a wedding card or a holiday card, thus the name All Occasion Bow. Lol.
Spellbinders has instructions on their website for putting the bow together that could be printed out. I like to keep it with my dies. This is an easy one to assemble but still good to have.
All of the die pieces have to be cut 2x except for the "knot" of the bow, that is cut once. I cut that twice by accident and just added it underneath.
There are indentations near the center to line the stripes of the bow up.
Next attach the “shadow” of the bow. Repeat for the opposite side of the bow. Remember the shadow goes on the top!
Attach he stripe to the knot of the bow.
Attach the stripes to the 2 “tails” of the bow.
Adhering the 2 pieces of the bow to the knot, backside.
Add the tails to the bow.

I'm just amazed at how beautiful the Solar Paste looks embossed! I wanted to apply it in horizontal lines to look like the sky and ground. I tried applying the Paste with a craft tool but to get a even coverage it took more paste than I wanted to use. Same with a craft knife. I tried using a domed blending tool but the shape left uneven application. I pulled out my old Ranger flat foam blender and that worked the best. If you watch the video you will see how even the application is and it takes very little Solar Paste to cover the black cardstock.
I used 110 lb cardstock from Hobby Lobby, cut down to just a tad smaller than 5x7". The finished card is 5x7", the top black panel with the cutout oval window is 5x7" but the panel I covered with the Solar Paste is cut just a smidge smaller than 5x7", just easier to attach the oval window panel over, you don't want any of the colored panel peeking out from the sides. Just be sure the colored panel isn't smaller than the oval cut out.
Let the Solar Paste completely dry before putting into the embossing folder or you'll have paste on your folder. Remember, this is paste, you must clean it up before it dries. That's why I used a piece of scrap paper underneath the paper I'm applying the paste to, much easier for cleanup. I keep a bag of old bills, paper I'd normally toss for this purpose.
The 3D embossing folder is called Geo Quilt and unfortunately it's been delayed but will be available on 10/20/23 here. (I received it from Spellbinders before the release date.) I didn't receive the namesake Snow Globe for this release but check it out, it's so pretty! There are a few add-on sets, I used the Woodland Scene, there's also a Nativity Scene and a Snowman Scene, all so cute. Here's a link to see the entire collection: Simon's Snow Globes.
The good news is that this Woodland Scene looks great even without the Snow Globe.
I ran it through the Big Shot just once, I never spritz my paper before embossing. The dies for the "Woodland Scene" are simple. I diecut them each 2x just for sturdiness. The only layering piece is the snow on the evergreen trees. Everything else is simple. I love the simplicity of the white diecuts against the beautiful background.

I received this beautiful cardstock from 12x12 Cardstock Shop called Neenah Stardream, it's a pearlescent cardstock in Antique Gold. It has a shimmer to the paper, with a slight black undertone. I decided to try embossing it, always a favorite of mine.
After embossing it (beautiful) I thought I'd like to see some of the flowers stand out a bit more, so I took black Archival Ink and rubbed it over the Simon Says Stamp Clusters of Flowers embossing folder.
I wanted to see what Simon Hurley's Lunar Paste would look like on the flowers, so I applied some with my finger. It really made the flowers stand out. I don't think this is a necessary step, it looks beautiful without the added paste.
I also used a Tim Holtz embossing folder on another panel but didn't use it for a card yet.
