Susanbcards: The Last Few Days of the September 2026 All-Clubs Crate!

This fox is so cute, I had to make another card with it. I saw an image of an Arctic Fox and thought how pretty it would be to make. I used white cardstock and inked the edges with some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink around the edges. I used some black glossy cardstock for the nose and paws.

For the gorgeous background, from my stash, I used a BetterPress plate (NO LONGER AVAILABLE, it was a club kit from last year) which I embossed with copper metallic cardstock. I inked the plate with black ink but rather than using my BetterPress machine, I used a silicone mat to emboss it. It gave a dimensional look like an embossing folder, right? The black ink defined the design. After I did that, I used some black acrylic paint and rubbed it over the entire background then wiped it off with a damp towel. That is an extra step I like to do to take away some of the metallic shine of the paper and give it an age look. Unnecessary, but I love the look.

Here is the YouTube video I made on how to use your BetterPress plates in different ways. You don't even need the BetterPress system, just a silicone mat. Some diecutting machines come with it but I bought the Sizzix mat. UGH, they discontinued it but if you google it you may find it available in some stores. I think it's a must have, it allows me to use the Spellbinders 3D embossing folders with my Sizzix machine since I don't have the Spellbinders one. It also lets you take background dies and emboss with them rather than just diecutting. And of course it allows me to use my BetterPress plates to emboss not just foil or ink press. I did see Gina K has a mat for her machine but I'm not familiar with that one.
